Functional Neurological Disorder (FND)

Real symptoms. Real support. There is a way forward.

What is FND?

Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) involves symptoms like weakness, tremors, movement difficulties, or speech disruptions that are real—but don’t show up on traditional scans or medical tests. These symptoms can be confusing and frustrating, but they are treatable with the right approach.

How we help?

At The Therapy Collaborative, we understand the complexity of FND—and how to support children and teens through it. Our occupational therapy services focus on:

  • Rebuilding confidence in the body’s ability to move and function

  • Developing movement patterns that are stable and repeatable

  • Supporting emotional regulation and self-awareness

  • Empowering kids to take ownership of their progress without fear

We’re proud to be part of ongoing research through Lurie Children’s Hospital, contributing to the evolving understanding and treatment of pediatric FND. We’re also active members of the FND Society, allowing us to stay informed by the latest international best practices.

Our approach is always personalized, collaborative, and grounded in compassion.

Outcomes families see

Many families come to us after months—sometimes years—of confusion. With consistent therapy and emotional support, we see children regain movement, increase independence, and feel more confident in their bodies and daily routines.
